Logan Wells is the Owner and CEO of Bay Area Baseball and has dedicated his career to developing athletes on and off the field. A former collegiate baseball player at Hillsborough Community College, Logan later served as an assistant baseball coach at Eckerd College from 2021 through 2025. During his time at Eckerd, he helped recruit, develop, and mentor collegiate student athletes.

Throughout his coaching career, Logan has helped more than 50 players earn opportunities to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. His passion for player development, recruiting, and building relationships has helped make Bay Area Baseball one of the fastest growing organizations in the region.

In addition to leading Bay Area Baseball, Logan owns and operates The Spot Athletic Center, a year round indoor training facility that provides athletes with professional instruction, advanced player development, and access to experienced coaches.

Logan is also the founder of the Coach Logan Wells Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for inner city youth through athletics, mentorship, and community outreach. He currently serves as the Director of the Nike RBI Program in partnership with Major League Baseball, helping provide underserved athletes with access to high level coaching, competition, and opportunities to advance both on and off the field.

Outside of baseball, Logan is also an entrepreneur and owns a marketing company that helps businesses grow through branding, digital marketing, and strategic advertising.

Logan's mission is simple. Provide players with honest guidance, elite instruction, and opportunities to reach their full potential whether that means making a high school team, earning a college scholarship, or pursuing professional baseball.

A Sarasota native and 2009 Brewers draft pick, Scooter spent nine seasons in the majors with the Brewers, Reds, and Giants, earning a 2018 All-Star selection and tying an MLB record with four home runs in a single game in 2017. He is a co-owner of the Bay Area Academy and works directly with BAPB hitters and infielders.

Reid spent nine seasons in the Majors, most notably as the Opening Day shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays. Drafted 45th overall in 2004, a Baseball America Top 20 prospect. Named Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year and the Eastern League Manager of the Year for the 2025 season while managing the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Now Bench Coach for the Durham Bulls, the Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A affiliate, giving BAPB players a direct line to what reaching pro baseball actually takes.

Jasone is entering his 30th year as a baseball coach. A graduate of Avon Park High School, he played college baseball at South Florida State College, Polk State College, and Embry-Riddle University before spending two years in the Frontier League of independent professional baseball with the Newark Bisons, Kalamazoo, and Ohio Baley Redcoats. His coaching career began as an assistant at South Florida State College for five years, followed by 11 years at Lake Wales High School, and he's now in his 14th year at Sebring High School, compiling more than 400 career wins along the way.

Former two-time All-Conference player and team captain at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Collegiate coaching experience includes St. Thomas Aquinas, Wagner College, Georgian Court University, and currently serves as Catching & Assistant Hitting Coach at Eckerd College. As Bay Area's General Manager, he's dedicated to developing fundamentally sound players, building mental toughness, and helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.

Tim Beckham was the first overall selection of the 2008 MLB Draft, taken by the Tampa Bay Rays out of Griffin High School in Georgia. He reached the majors in 2013 and played parts of eight big league seasons with the Rays, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, and Minnesota Twins, finishing his professional career in 2022.

A middle infielder who came up through one of the most scrutinized draft classes in recent memory, Tim brings Bay Area players a first-hand perspective on the draft process, the grind of pro development, and what separates the players who last from the players who don't. He is now based in the Tampa Bay area and works with BAPB athletes at The Spot Athletic Center.

BJ Upton spent 12 seasons in the majors with the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays. Selected 2nd overall by Tampa Bay in the 2002 MLB Draft, he debuted in the big leagues at just 19 years old and helped lead the Rays to the 2008 World Series, hitting seven home runs that postseason. He now coaches Bay Area Baseball's Showcase and National Team programs, giving players a direct line to what it actually takes to get drafted and make the majors.

A third baseman who played six MLB seasons with the Dodgers, Pirates, Athletics, and Blue Jays, Andy comes from a true baseball family, son of MLB pitcher Dave LaRoche and brother of 12-year big leaguer Adam LaRoche. He currently coaches hitting in the Kansas City Royals organization and works with BAPB players in the off-season.

A former MLB catcher who won a World Series ring with the 1996 Atlanta Braves, Joe has spent more than two decades coaching and managing in the minor leagues, most recently as manager of the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, earning 2025 Southern League Manager of the Year. He shares that experience with BAPB players in the off-season.

Coach Dalton Martinez brings a lifetime of baseball experience to the game. A 2013 Tampa Bay Rays draft pick, Dalton played at the College of Central Florida before finishing his collegiate career at Grayson College in Texas.

He began his coaching career with two seasons at Clearwater High School before serving as an assistant coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Hillsborough Community College, where he focused on player development and helping athletes reach the next level.

As the son of two-time World Series champion manager Dave Martinez, Dalton grew up in Major League clubhouses and spent his childhood as a bat boy with the Tampa Bay Rays. His passion is developing young players while teaching the work ethic, discipline, and fundamentals needed to succeed both on and off the field.

With 28 years developing pitchers through showcase and travel ball in the Bay Area, Doug spent 16 seasons (2007–2024) as pitching coach at Eckerd College, where he helped produce an MLB draft pick and multiple conference Pitcher of the Year honorees. His philosophy is simple: build the habits that let you dominate on the mound.

A Tampa native out of Middleton High School, Jamie was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 2008, then again in 2009 (18th round, 561st overall) after playing at Hillsborough Community College. He spent parts of three seasons as a first baseman in the Angels' organization, batting .291 with 5 home runs before his release in 2011. Known around the Bay as "King of Swat," Jamie now brings hands-on hitting instruction to BAPB players, drawing on his experience as a coach with Baseball University.

Valdes brings extensive coaching and professional playing experience to Bay Area. He has served as Head Coach at Dixie Hollins High School, coached at Hillsborough Community College and IMG Academy, and helped lead the Midland Southeast Organization to its first National Championship. A Tampa native, Valdes won two state championships at Alonso High School before pitching at Florida State, State College of Florida, and the University of South Florida. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2017 MLB Draft and spent three seasons in professional baseball, reaching Double-A.

Before I ever became a coach, I had the privilege of playing for Coach Logan. I believed in his vision from the very beginning of Bay Area and was fortunate to be a part of one of his very first high school teams. The lessons, leadership, and passion he brought to the game had a lasting impact on me throughout my baseball career. When my playing days came to an end, becoming a coach felt like the natural next step. I wanted the opportunity to give back to the game that gave me so much and help develop young athletes the same way Coach Logan helped shape me. Coaching has allowed me to continue that legacy and invest in the next generation of players.

I had the opportunity to coach a 9U baseball team that was struggling to compete and had difficulty finding success on the field. Through a strong emphasis on player development, fundamentals, accountability, and building confidence, our team made tremendous progress over the next two years. What started as a program searching for wins grew into one of the top five ranked teams in the state. Watching those young athletes develop their skills, believe in themselves, and achieve success together reinforced my passion for coaching and showed me the impact that consistent instruction, hard work, and a positive culture can have on a team.

Matt played four years of college baseball, two at Appalachian State University at the Division I level and two at Gardner-Webb University.

As a coach he has taken three different teams, starting at 8U, to top 25 rankings in the state. He led the USSSA Florida All State MVP 10U championship team in the summer of 2025 and the USSSA All American Championship 11U team in the summer of 2026.

A Tampa native out of Middleton High School, Nevin was a 2nd round pick (89th overall) by the Chicago White Sox in the 2007 MLB Draft and pitched in their farm system before returning home. He brings pro-level pitching instruction to BAPB's staff.

A right-handed pitcher out of East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Cooper played at Florida State before continuing at Polk State College and then Eckerd College. In his 2025 season at Eckerd he appeared in 13 games with two starts, striking out 26 across 22.1 innings, and he earned Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in both 2024 and 2025.

A Bay Area alum himself, Cooper works with BAPB pitchers at The Spot Athletic Center, coaching the same developmental path he came up through.

Mike brings elite experience as a former University of Tampa All-American and National Champion, a 7th-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, and a four-year pro reaching Double-A. He also spent four seasons coaching at Sickles High School, helping lead the program to its first state championship.

His knowledge, energy, and passion for developing players will make an immediate impact.
