Owner & CEO
Logan Wells is the Owner and CEO of Bay Area Pro Baseball and has dedicated his career to developing athletes on and off the field. A former collegiate baseball player at Hillsborough Community College, Logan later served as an assistant baseball coach at Eckerd College from 2021 through 2025. During his time at Eckerd, he helped recruit, develop, and mentor collegiate student athletes.
Throughout his coaching career, Logan has helped more than 50 players earn opportunities to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. His passion for player development, recruiting, and building relationships has helped make Bay Area Pro Baseball one of the fastest growing organizations in the region.
In addition to leading Bay Area Pro Baseball, Logan owns and operates The Spot Athletic Center, a year round indoor training facility that provides athletes with professional instruction, advanced player development, and access to experienced coaches.
Logan is also the founder of the Coach Logan Wells Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for inner city youth through athletics, mentorship, and community outreach. He currently serves as the Director of the Nike RBI Program in partnership with Major League Baseball, helping provide underserved athletes with access to high level coaching, competition, and opportunities to advance both on and off the field.
Outside of baseball, Logan is also an entrepreneur and owns a marketing company that helps businesses grow through branding, digital marketing, and strategic advertising.
Logan's mission is simple. Provide players with honest guidance, elite instruction, and opportunities to reach their full potential whether that means making a high school team, earning a college scholarship, or pursuing professional baseball.
Coach, Owner Tampa Bay
Reid spent nine seasons in the Majors, most notably as the Opening Day shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays. Drafted 45th overall in 2004, a Baseball America Top 20 prospect. Named Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year and the Eastern League Manager of the Year for the 2025 season while managing the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Now Bench Coach for the Durham Bulls, the Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A affiliate — he gives BAPB players a direct line to what reaching pro baseball actually takes.
Coach, Owner Central Florida
Jasone is entering his 30th year as a baseball coach. A graduate of Avon Park High School, he played college baseball at South Florida State College, Polk State College, and Embry-Riddle University before spending two years in the Frontier League of independent professional baseball with the Newark Bisons, Kalamazoo, and Ohio Baley Redcoats. His coaching career began as an assistant at South Florida State College for five years, followed by 11 years at Lake Wales High School, and he's now in his 14th year at Sebring High School — compiling more than 400 career wins along the way.
Coach, GM, and Owner
Former two-time All-Conference player and team captain at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Collegiate coaching experience includes St. Thomas Aquinas, Wagner College, Georgian Court University, and currently serves as Catching & Assistant Hitting Coach at Eckerd College. As Bay Area's General Manager, he's dedicated to developing fundamentally sound players, building mental toughness, and helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.
A Sarasota native and 2009 Brewers draft pick, Scooter spent nine seasons in the majors with the Brewers, Reds, and Giants, earning a 2018 All-Star selection and tying an MLB record with four home runs in a single game in 2017. He joins BAPB in the off-season to work with hitters and infielders.
With 28 years developing pitchers through showcase and travel ball in the Bay Area, Doug spent 16 seasons (2007–2024) as pitching coach at Eckerd College, where he helped produce an MLB draft pick and multiple conference Pitcher of the Year honorees. His philosophy is simple: build the habits that let you dominate on the mound.
A Tampa native out of Middleton High School, Jamie was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 2008, then again in 2009 (18th round, 561st overall) after playing at Hillsborough Community College. He spent parts of three seasons as a first baseman in the Angels' organization, batting .291 with 5 home runs before his release in 2011. Known around the Bay as "King of Swat," Jamie now brings hands-on hitting instruction to BAPB players, drawing on his experience as a coach with Baseball University.
Valdes brings extensive coaching and professional playing experience to Bay Area Pro. He has served as Head Coach at Dixie Hollins High School, coached at Hillsborough Community College and IMG Academy, and helped lead the Midland Southeast Organization to its first National Championship. A Tampa native, Valdes won two state championships at Alonso High School before pitching at Florida State, State College of Florida, and the University of South Florida. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2017 MLB Draft and spent three seasons in professional baseball, reaching Double-A.
Before I ever became a coach, I had the privilege of playing for Coach Logan. I believed in his vision from the very beginning of Bay Area and was fortunate to be a part of one of his very first high school teams. The lessons, leadership, and passion he brought to the game had a lasting impact on me throughout my baseball career. When my playing days came to an end, becoming a coach felt like the natural next step. I wanted the opportunity to give back to the game that gave me so much and help develop young athletes the same way Coach Logan helped shape me. Coaching has allowed me to continue that legacy and invest in the next generation of players.
I had the opportunity to coach a 9U baseball team that was struggling to compete and had difficulty finding success on the field. Through a strong emphasis on player development, fundamentals, accountability, and building confidence, our team made tremendous progress over the next two years. What started as a program searching for wins grew into one of the top five ranked teams in the state. Watching those young athletes develop their skills, believe in themselves, and achieve success together reinforced my passion for coaching and showed me the impact that consistent instruction, hard work, and a positive culture can have on a team.
